In the mean time, while you wait to receive your free bottle of joint pain relief supplements or while you wait for the treatment to take hold and get you feeling younger and spryer than you have in years, I want to get into a lot of detail about the way that joints are structured, what can go wrong with them, and what are the causes of joint pain. You see, there are actually more than just one type of joint in your body. Some of them, like your shoulder or hip, are like a ball and socket design. So you have the hard bone socket that the joint fits into which is a very sturdy base for your joint to rest in, and you also have the joint itself with is like a ball bearing. The joint is cushioned by cartilage and floats around in the socket allowing you free motion in many different directions, and you can get a lot of smooth motion this way.

Types of Joints and the Pain They Can Bring You

There are also joints that work like simple levers, such as your elbow or knee. These work like the hinges on a door and can only go in one direction, back and forth. Now when I say that the knee is this type of joint I actually oversimplify the issue because the knee is a complex joint, but it is basically sufficient for our purposes to say that the main knee joint is a simple lever. You also have the knee cap sitting overtop the knee joint which allows you to lock the knee in place and prevents it from bending forward.

The Main Anatomic Factors Impacting Flexibility Are:

  • Muscles
    • Increasing flexibility relies on the elastic properties of muscle
    • Length can be changed over time
  • Connective Tissue
  • Ligaments & joint capsules, while possessing some elastic properties, can lose their elasticity during periods of disuse & immobilization
  • Bony Structures
    • Can limit end point range
    • Bony prominences can also stop movements at normal end points in the range
  • Fat
    • Can act as a wedge between lever arms
    • Restricts movement wherever it is found
  • Skin
    • Injury or surgical procedure may alter skin – variable in elasticity
    • Skin adheres to underlying tissue
  • Neural tissue
    • Develops tightness as a result of compression, chronic repetitive microtrauma, muscle imbalances, joint dysfunction or morphological adaptations due to posture
    • Could stimulate nociceptors & pain
    • Cause muscle guarding & spasm to protect irritated neural structures
    • Neural fibrosis ultimately results causing decreased elasticity & restricted motion

Except for bone structure, age & gender all other flexibility limiting factors can be modified & altered to increase range of motion.

Specific Exercises To Improve Range Of Motion

  • Active Range of Motion (AROM) – Active ROM exercises are when the athlete moves a limb by himself causing a contraction and relaxation of the muscle fibers. These exercises should be painless. During the early phases of rehabilitation, these exercises can be performed in a cold whirlpool (cryokinetics). For example, an athlete with a sprained ankle may spell out the alphabet while having their foot is a warm whirlpool.
  • Passive ROM (PROM) – Passive ROM exercises are performed when the athletic trainer moves the limb through its range instead of the individual. This type of range of motion prevents joint changes and promotes healing by preventing scar tissue from adhering to the fibrils. Limited passive ROM, also known as hypomobility can be restored through joint mobilizations. Passive ROM can also be done by machine by as well. An example of this would be a CMU machine, which is used for post-surgery ROM.
  • Active Assisted ROM (AAROM) – Active Assisted ROM exercises are performed when the athlete needs some assistance from a trainer or machine in order to attain full range of motion.
  • Resistive ROM (RROM) – This type of ROM is performed when the trainer applies resistance to the body part as the athlete moves it. You can learn more about this type of ROM through the Muscular Strength section.

Quality of Motion is Also An Important Factor

A very enlightening article in the peer reviewed journal Clinical Biomechanics also points out the profound importance of considering the quality of motion in addition to simply the range. This is a consideration that will be extraordinarily familiar to you if you have been suffering this type of malady, but I believe it may edify you to see the direct quote from the journal nonetheless:

Motion restoring implants function in a dynamic environment that encompasses the full range of spinal kinematics. Accurate assessment of the in situ performance of these devices using numerical techniques requires model verification and validation against the well-established nonlinear quality of motion of the spine, as opposed to the previous norm of matching kinematic endpoint metrics such as range of motion and intervertebral disc pressure measurements at a single kinematic reference point.

Specific Areas Where Joint Pain May Commonly Occur

Hip joint pain is often caused, like many other forms of joint pain, by a degradation of the cartilage protecting the two pieces of bone from one another. When you think of a bone most people will consider that it is very much like a chunk of rock, with no feeling or life in it. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, a healthy bone is living tissue that is always growing and shrinking, which contains live marrow and which has an abundance of nerve endings allowing you to feel pain in joints and bones.

So hip joint pain can mean that the cartilage around the hip joint is in bad shape, or it can mean that you have developed some form of bone spur or bone erosion. This is very common when you have vitamin D deficiency and are suffering from osteoporosis. It could be that what feels like muscle joint pain is in fact bone joint pain. One thing that is certain no matter what the cause of the pain is that something is not working as it should within your body. A physician should always be consulted in the case of muscle and joint pain because pain is very often indicative of treatable underlying problems that can be treated.

Current Treatments Offering Relief From Joint Pain

Joint pain treatments, unfortunately, are not as advanced medically as we might like them to be, and this could be because the underlying joint pain causes are not very well understood. However, there are some joint pain remedies available that many people do find helpful, and I will do my best here to explain them, how they work, and how they can help you to realize some joint pain relief.

Knee joint pain can sometimes be of a similar origin to pain in the hip joints: often these are caused by years of abuse through an improper or imbalanced gait. Often runners experience a lot of pain in the knees and hips, as well as other problems that can sometimes become degenerative over time. Special medical treatments are now available however which can preserve existing joint tissue and even provide complete knee or hip joint replacement surgeries.

Looking At The Causes, In Search Of A Joint Pain Reliever That Works For You

The type of joint pain fatigue caused by extensive running or other high-impact exercise activities should not be ignored because it can indicate that permanent damage is being done to the tissue. You have to be very careful with your joints because you will ever only get one set of original natural tissues and once they become damaged and scarred surgery will become the only option, in spite of the increasingly effective pharmaceutical and natural joint pain remedies that are becoming available to us now.

If you find that you are experiencing finger joint pain it could be due to repetitive stress, but there is some evidence that carpel tunnel syndromes have been overestimated in the general population and that much of the pain that people experience from RSIs is psychological in origin. However, there is also the possibility that you could be experiencing arthritis or the after-effects of an injury. A physician would have to assess the status of your fingers and hopefully be able to provide you with some finger joint pain relief.

The Discomfort In Your Hands & Fingers Can Be Inconvenient

You may also be concerned about thumb joint pain, which is often an uncomfortable and in some cases highly inconvenient form of ailment. Many time this type of pain is causes by a “jammed” joint, which actually means that the connective tissues which hold and cushion the joint have become bruised. This is something that will simply take time to heal while the tissues repair. In this case it can be beneficial to take a natural joint pain remedy because this can help to avoid scarring which could lead to more serious and prolonged difficulties.

Shoulder joint pain can be particularly trying because the nerves in your upper body are so widely interconnected. The pain that you experience in your shoulders or neck can often become more generalized. In this case many people end up simply taking excessive pain relievers, but I believe that true joint pain relievers would be a better choice. A treatment for joint pain should not simply address the pain, although the pain itself is clearly important as it is what brings you in to the doctor’s office to begin with.

Do Not Delay, Or The Situation Could Begin To Escalate

If you find that you are experiencing chronic joint pain, you will likely need to consult with an orthopedic specialist, although your doctor can help you to understand more about this and can give you a referral if this type of joint pain treatment turns out to be necessary. They will also be able to tell you what types of joint pain medicine might be available to you to help you feel better in the meantime. You should never ignore this type of pain because the longer it goes on the more difficulty you could have finding relief for joint pain that is practical in your situation. It could simply be that you end up in a permanent situation of dealing with these problems because you failed to consult with your physician about how to treat joint pain sooner before it was too late.

As I explained, once your begin to develop scar tissue inside the joint, things get tricky in terms of being able to find ways to relieve joint pain that you are having and to reverse its effects before they become more serious. Many people think of something like elbow joint pain as being a simple “tennis elbow” with no treatment necessary. While this may sometimes be the case, it is very important that you let your doctor take a look at that because there could be deeper damage that will only get worse if left untreated.

If you understand the causes of joint pain you will certainly be more likely to talk to your doctor and that is why I’m explaining all of this to you. However, once you have talked to your doctor and made sure that there is no permanent damage or whatever damage there is is being treated as well as it can possibly be treated with the excellent modern medicine that is available, you may also want to look into joint pain remedies that are available over the counter or by mail order that can help your body’s own process of repair.

The World Is Full Of Natural Joint Pain Remedies

Many people have expressed that they have had better experiences with this joint pain and swelling relief formula that Dr. Frank’s formulas, and I have convinced the manufacturer to offer a free bottle to every single one of my readers. I’m really not sure how long it will be before they wise up and not only stop giving this stuff away, but quadruple the price because that is what people who know how powerful these joint pain supplements really are would be willing to pay without even flinching. It’s that good.

And this is a much better plan than a lot of the quick-fix joint pain remedies you will see out there, things like joint pain cream and joint pain relief spray that only affect the outer surface of your body and are not able to provide the deep nourishment that you get from the HA joint pain products. You might experience some short term joint and muscle pain relief, but the sad truth is that this is all superficial. To relieve joint pain in the long term you have to address the underlying problems and that means paying attention to what your body is trying to tell you when you experience joint pain.

I would love to tell you that there is a proper join pain cure available on the market today but that is pie in the sky thinking and you know as well as I do that it simply is not true. However, that is not to say that there are not supplements for joint pain that can be extremely effective in many cases, because that much is actually true. Relieving joint pain involves soothing the inflamed tissues in and around the joint and giving your body the nutritional support it needs to repair and rebuild the damaged tissue. Joint & muscle pain relief should follow from that simple understanding, that the pain is a symptom of something wrong.
